Printable Flash Cards

Printable flash cards have many different uses. They come in a variety of subjects from the alphabet cards to foreign languages cards. They can be used by all ages and not just toddlers or elementary school children.

Some flash cards have the question on one side and the answer on the other. Other cards may only have the problem and have a blank side. If the answers are present they may be used without the help of someone who knows the correct answers, but if there is no answer present it will require a person that is familiar enough to correct any wrong answers.

The best use of printable flash cards is repetition. If you show the cards over and over, you will start to memorize them. There are several strategies implemented to teach using education cards. For children, often a reward can be given after a correct answer or after a session. Small candies such as M&Ms can be used. One for each right answer.

Another way to make flash card use more fun is to involve games. For example use a game board like Candyland or Chutes and Ladders and in order for the child to move to the spot on the board they have to answer the flashcard correctly. If they land on a bad spot, they have to answer a card to be saved from the slide or what ever the case may be.

Another effective strategy to help make printable flash card time more enjoyable is to use the cards with music to make a song out of it. Instead of reading the problem on one side of the card, sing the problem. Some children learn better through music than other ways. A catchy tune can really help. Singing will not be applicable to all flashcards especially language flash cards that require words to be spoken a certain way, but for most of them it can work great.

For adults there should not need to be a reward like candy. Often the best way to use flash cards with adults is to hold the card for one second and then go to the next. The adult may not be able to answer each card within the time frame, but over time all answers should be given within the one second.

Flash cards can be as simple as a piece of paper cut into small pieces with enough room to write on, or they can be purchased from a store. If you make them yourself and want to keep them for a long time, it would be best to laminate the individual cards to protect them from use. Some people like to laminate blank paper and use a dry erase marker to write on the cards for what ever they intend to do that day.

What ever you decide to use for your cards, and what ever subject you go with they are a valuable teaching asset that can be had for free.

I added another set of large number flash cards. This new set contains one number per page and also

has lady bugs for children to count that equal the number on that page.

Having the number and objects to county will help children remember what the number looks like and also what the quantity looks like. This will help children develop their memory skills.

Numbers can be combined to create larger number once your child can count beyond 12.

Let’s face it, math can be hard to teach to our kids. Kids like fun things and math isn’t necessarily at the top of the fun list when it comes to subjects. I have used rewards like M&Ms to reward my kids when they get the answer correct and that works well, but I didn’t want to fatten them up so I set out first to find a product that can make math fun.

I added printable counting flash cards to the number flash cards page.  These flash cards are small and have dots for the tots to count from one to ten.  I will be adding more counting flash cards that have the number on the back to help kids familiarize themselves with the number.

Parents are always trying to find ways to help their children learn quicker and retain all the knowledge they acquire.  Flash cards are an excellent way for kids up to adults to learn.  Math flash cards are easy to use and the most common type of flash cards.  We have printable multiplication flash cards, printable subtraction flash cards and printable addition flash cards to help kids learn and memorize simple math problems from 0-12 and more.

Using flash cards doesn’t have to be boring and repetitive.  It can be fun and something children look forward to if you turn it into a game.  The possibilities are endless, but I will list just a few uses of flash cards that can help kids look forward to playing with flash cards or even do it on their own.

Many kids like challenges and love to accomplish things so the first part is to be encouraging and congratulate your child whenever the answer is correct.  Often just knowing you are pleased is reward enough for toddlers and preschoolers.  This is very important so be sure to do this often and not only with flash cards.

One flash card game would be to challenge the child to memorize the flash cards.  This works best with the printable math flash cards, but can be used with any set.

Another flash card activity that is sure to go over will with children is to offer a reward for every correct answer.  The reward should be something simple like a small piece of candy or fruit.  If the reward is food it should be possible to eat it in one bit because there will be more flash cards to look over.

Speed flash cards is a challenging game where the kids only have seconds to get the answer before the next card is flipped.  Start out by timing how long it takes for your child to get the answer and then cut down from there.  This really helps with memorization and can be fun if used in conjunction with rewards.

There are many methods available on the Internet that will help children and adults learn.  Flash cards have proven to be effective for all ages and they are free to download and print from your own computer.

Flash cards with shapes are now available. Each shape is colored and has the word directly underneath the shape. I currently have only the one sided small set of printable shapes flash cards, but will be adding more soon.

I will include more shapes in other sets to keep a variety. In addition to just learning shapes, children can also practice their colors with these flash cards. The flash cards can be downloaded for free and printed from your computer. Then all you will need to do is cut them out. Kids love to help so if possible help them cut them out.
